A disease that is passed from person to person by having sex is called a sexually transmitted disease (STD). There is a strong link between HIV infection and other STDs. It is an issue that should concern all sexually active people, not just people with HIV.

People with STDs are far more likely to get or pass on HIV through sexual contact than people who do not have STDs.

If you have HIV, you are at risk for these types of STDs:

Genital herpes

Syphilis

Gonorrhea

Chlamydia

Trichomoniasis

Genital Warts
